IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY AS SUBMITTING THIS FORM SIGNIFIES THAT YOU AGREE Please telephone or email if you have any queries. I understand that the Course Fee includes student membership of The Moving Image Society (BKSTS) and the Directors' Guild of Great Britain, but does not include any text books (except for the Summer School and One Year Course), the International Student ID card, any cinema entry fees, Duke of York’s Film Society fees, fares for field trips or any museum admission fees.
I also agree that any film made by me (together with other students in my group) as part of the course remains the copyright of the Brighton Film School, which will not, however, unreasonably withold permission for festival entries. Course films must also normally be produced using film school cameras and editing equipment. Students wishing to use their own equipment must obtain permission first, and it is especially important that ALL students have the opportunity to learn on school editing systems as they are to industry standard. All students within the group will also be entitled to receive a copy of the film for their own showreel purposes. Film credits for all such "internal" films will begin with "The Brighton Film School" animated logo and end with the Director credited as Executive Producer and conclude with "© Brighton Film School". Students do, however, often produce extra mural films whilst on the course, and permission is usually granted to use film school equipment. Alumni are also able to use film school equipment and hire Brighton Film Studios (ie professional) equipment at special rates.
Whilst applicants from ALL backgrounds are welcomed, and indeed encouraged, they should also note that as the Film School is a Christian-run organisation, this means that we will not encourage any film which promotes any belief which, in the directors' opinion, conflicts with Trinitarian Christianity.
Otherwise, the Brighton Film School will, indeed, on its part, do everything in its power actively to encourage festival entries and, within reason, pay any entry fees.
I hereby apply for a place on the above-marked Course and if successful will remit the sum indicated in full payment or a deposit of £100 to reserve my place. (Short and Summer School courses only). NB - Deposits must NOT be paid for the One Year Course until you have been offered a place which you have then accepted. A deposit of £500 will then become due. It is essential that you do NOT submit a deposit for the One Year Course until you have been notified that your application has been successful, as this course is highly competitive and we receive many more applications than there are places. I understand that the Course Fee is payable in advance and is only refundable at the School Directors' discretion once my place has been secured (unless the course itself is cancelled or an acceptable reason is given prior to the commencement of the course, in which case all may be refunded). The deposit is otherwise not normally refundable.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR OVERSEAS APPLICANTS: Applicants from overseas countries outside the EU should also ensure that they can obtain a visa before arranging accommodation and paying any deposit. Telephone interviews will usually arranged wherever possible.
OVERSEAS STUDENTS are charged the same fees but, if coming from outside the EU must note that they remain entirely responsible for obtaining the oppropriate visa and fulfilling all other entry requirements before paying any deposit or arranging their accommodation. Unrequested fees which have to be refunded because visas have been unobtainable will be returned net of any bank charges.
Deposits and Fees may be paid either by UK or Euro Cheque (made payable to The Brighton Film School) and sent to the Admin address, or Online to our account at The Royal Bank of Scotland via their online WorldPay system. Successful applicants outside the Sterling, US Dollar or Euro area may prefer to transfer funds for which our IBAN details will be provided. |
